South Coast Fitness
The Brief for South coast fitness
South Coast Fitness isn’t a typical gym.
There’s no generic £40-per-month membership model and no rows of people training alone with headphones in. Instead, the focus is on small-group coaching, led directly by the owner, with an emphasis on accountability, structure, and real results.
The challenge was clear:
The website needed to immediately communicate that this was coaching-first, not just another gym space.
Our approach
From the start, it was obvious this project needed more than an email brief.
We met with the client face to face to fully understand the business, the clientele, and what made South Coast Fitness different. To really capture the atmosphere and coaching style, we visited the gym during a live evening session — observing how the groups trained, how the coaching worked, and how members interacted.
We also worked closely with the videographer on-site, helping plan:
- The opening hero video
- Specific shots needed to support key messages
- Visual moments that showed coaching in action, not staged gym imagery
This ensured the visuals and the website worked together seamlessly.
Design & Build
The design direction was intentionally minimal.
A black and white colour scheme was used to keep the site sleek, confident, and distraction-free, allowing the coaching, messaging, and visuals to do the talking. Every page was structured to guide visitors through:
- What South Coast Fitness offers
- How the coaching works
- Why it’s different from a traditional gym
The website was built completely from scratch, with a strong focus on clarity, flow, and user experience across all devices.
This project is a great example of how effective websites aren’t just built — they’re understood first.
By spending time with the client, seeing the business in action, and shaping both the visuals and structure around that reality, we were able to create a website that feels genuine, confident, and aligned with the brand.
